The closer I look, however, the more I see the images speaking to me are those of Medieval France. Everything from when it stood as the lone Kingdom of the Franks to the beginning of France's almost vainglorious affair with herself.
Imagine the beautiful French countryside throughout the medieval period. Think of worn-out yet idyllic villages and towns - decked with short lightly tinted, yellowing stone building; bits of them draped in ivy, windows, and doors hemmed by little blossoming flower beds. Think of the dusty roads that would have lead to the enchanting castles with their tall towers and views of dazzling emerald pastures springing with wildflowers and horses running free. A modern collection inspired by the tranquil nature of the remnants of old France that have endured the ages, our Cheval collection speaks of quiet opulence. It whispers of a time of reserved style and artistic sophistication prevalent in the medieval world before it was increasingly abandoned for an ostentatious display of wealth by the monarchy and nobility in the following centuries. The flamboyance of 17th and 18th century France was charming in its own right - but it was undeniably, in part, responsible for the end of one of the world's longest-reigning monarchies. So...possibly plucking a leaf out of medieval France's book is a better option here.
